Where to volunteer in Richmond this holiday season!
The hustle and bustle of the holidays combined with the stress of finding the perfect gifts, planning the perfect meal and attending every holiday event can really take the joy out of the season. An easy (and meaningful!) way to get back to what the holidays are really supposed to be about is to volunteer. Giving your time and talents to an organization that means a lot to you is a win-win for everyone. Here are some of our favorite organizations to volunteer at in Richmond this holiday season!
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Donated building materials and home improvement merchandise are sold at the ReStore to help fund Habitat for Humanity’s effort to build housing for those in our community to need it most. You can volunteer at the ReStore and help stock shelves, pick up donations or just help out as needed! Or, consider donating to the ReStore! Did you know they even take your old latex paint? Clean out your garage and find some of that old paint that you aren’t using anymore! Find out more about volunteering at the ReStore here.
- Kentucky River Foothills Development Council: Two hours a month is all it takes to deliver meals to those who are homebound! Help elderly and disabled persons maintain their independence and quality of life by bringing lunch to their home. Find out more here.
- Hannah’s Care Packages: This amazing organization brings parents of children in the hospital a care package of items they need during their stay (think: toiletries and comforting items like blankets and tea). You can volunteer by donating items, or becoming an “Ambassador of Hope” and delivering the items directly to those who are in the hospital. Find out more here.
